The vines in the backyard have started to get grapes on them and before the birds got to them, I figured that I should snap a picture. I am hoping to get a progression of shots to show the progress over their growth (and ultimate demise).

I have to admit, I am really loving the Canon EF-S 15-85 mm lens that I got a little while back. I have only switched lenses twice since putting it on my camera and find that it is the perfect walk around lens. Check it out if you have a chance!

Last week I went for a little ride up to Elliot Lake (approximately 1.5 hrs away) and while Tiff was in a meeting, Moxie and I took a walk along a path system that follows the lake. Here is one of the shots I grabbed, I hope you enjoy it!

Last night brought the first real thunderstorm of the summer. I got lucky with some continuous shooting and caught this shot.

Anyone have any tips/tricks for catching great lightning photo’s?

I have to apologize for my absence, things have just been a little hectic lately!

A few things that have happened/I have figured out in my absence;

  • In the 3.5 months that I have had my camera, I have taken 1599 photos, averaging out to 15 photos per day
  • I finally had enough of my kit lens (18-55mm) and bought a Canon EF-S 15-85mm lens (a partial early Father’s Day gift! Thanks Tiff!!)
  • I actually do miss posting on the blog, even though it os the same few people who always comment to me about it.
  • I really, really need to design a logo to place as a watermark on my photos, my name one is getting lame.

In three days up at camp over the Victoria Day long weekend, I took over 300 photos, so I hope everyone is ready for a barrage of posts!

We were spoiled a couple weeks back with some beautiful weather, and now it has gone back to being chilly out. Seems like we aren’t the only ones waiting for things to warm up!

The moon was out the other evening and I wanted to see what kind of view I could get with my 70-300 mm Canon telephoto. Here is the result!

I wanted to get out and take some photos with my new lens (Canon EF 70-300 mm) and wanted to keep with the theme of longer exposure times. This is a 15 second exposure at an aperture of f10. As you can tell, I am enjoying making use of my new Giottos tripod and my remote switch!

I was sitting on the couch thinking about things that I could shoot to keep the steady stream of photos going on the blog, and there right beside me was the globe you see above. I am a bit of a rock (not the music) nut, and love this globe because it is inlaid will all different types of rock to make up the continents. I decided to pull the camera out and play around with the aperture settings, and came to the conclusion that I really want the Canon 50 mm f/1.8 lens that I have been looking at! It’s an inexpensive lens that will be great for portrait shots.
